Together with the top experts on the Triglav glacier, i.e. experts from the Anton Melik Geographic Institute, in November 2021, the team of the Slovenian Olympic Committee and Pivovarna Laško Union climbed underneath the snowy Triglav peak. Due to the season the glacier was already covered in snow and actually looked much better than usual. However, it covers a surface of less than an acre! (= a bit over a half of the football field). By comparison, at the start of the 19th century it measured nearly 50 acres. Sample collected! A part of the sample will be sent to the lab for analysis, while we will send a piece of the sample on the long journey to Beijing.
